gov The primary purpose of this position involves establishing, initiating child support orders, locating non-custodial parents, establishing medical insurance coverage, monitoring, and enforcing child support orders.
Contested cases are prepared for court by gathering evidence on the case and referring to the IV-D attorney and related work as apparent or assigned.
Work is performed and supervised under the Child Support Supervisor I.
The normal work schedule includes Monday through Friday 8AM-5PM.
Essential Functions:
Checks electronic location resources and investigates local resources such as:
present or previous employers, Postmaster, and Clerk of Court.
Interviews clients and non-custodial parents for the purpose of obtaining information and necessary documents in determining services needed.
Creates paper files for the establishment unit and requests any additional information needed.
Serves as back up to clerical staff, this involves greeting customers and answering phone calls.
Participates in regular training sessions held by regional and state personnel to stay abreast of the latest technological advances and federal and state policies including workshops pertaining to the automated case tracking system (ACTS).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Considerable knowledge of the Child Support Enforcement Program and applicable legal procedures; considerable ability to interview clients, absent parents and related sources, and to investigate cases; considerable ability to organize, analyze and summarize case information; basic math skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and absent parents, location resources, offices of the Clerk of Court, Magistrates, District Attorney, Sheriff, other court officials, and private attorneys.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
A Bachelors Degree or an Associates Degree in a Human Service related field or graduation from high school or GED and 1 year of clerical, customer service and/or public contact experience.
Experience should include any of the following:
interviewing, gather and compiling information, case management experience, customer service, investigatory, judicial, or legal work.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking and pushing or pulling; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.
g.
business office, light traffic).
Work is mostly sedentary and takes place in a professional office environment.
Requires travel to and from the court house.

This position is a part of the Cleveland County Public Health Center which is considered a Health and Human Services Department.
