Work is performed and supervised under the Child Support Supervisor I.
The normal work schedule includes 8:

until 5:

m.
, Monday through Friday.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for establishment of paternity and child support, as well as, medical coverage, location of absent parents and enforcement of support obligations.
Prepares cases for court action and participates in case staffing with supervision and the IV-D attorney.
Attends Child Support court regularly to assist the IV-D attorney in the establishment and enforcement of child support orders.
Regularly in contact with other County and State Child Support agencies, absent parents, clients, clerk of Courts office, judges, district attorneys, magistrates, employers and the general public.
Performs genetic testing to establish paternity.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of the Child Support Enforcement Program and applicable legal procedures; ability to interview clients, absent parents and related sources, and to investigate cases; ability to organize, analyze, and summarize case information; basic math skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and absent parents, location resources, offices of the Clerk of Court, Magistrates, District Attorney, Sheriff, other court officials, and private attorneys.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
Graduation from high school or GED and 1 year of Child Support experience or 2 years of customer service, interviewing, case management, judicial, investigatory, or legal work; or an Associate's Degree in a Human Service related field and 1 year of customer service, interviewing, case management, judicial, investigatory, or legal work; or a Bachelor's Degree in a Human Service related field and 6 months of customer service, interviewing, case management, judicial, investigatory, or legal work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires repetitive motions, and occasionally requires standing, walking and reaching with hands and arms; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels, work requires operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a quiet location (e.
g.
, library, private offices).
